Since 1998 the Australian Marine Industries Federation (AMIF) has conducted an annual survey questionnaire which has given an overview of the Marine Industry within Australia.
The main objective of the survey is to provide AMIF and its members with useful data and information which will help participants in planning for the future.
As Australians increase their leisure time and recreational activities, there has been a significant increase within the Marine Industry over the past ten years. It is therefore paramount that AMIF has accurate and up-to-date statistics which will assist AMIF to influence government policy.
The surveys are sent to Boating Industry Association members in each state. The AMIF estimates that BIA members account for about 85% of total marine industry growth product.
Within the survey there are twenty questions that can be answered. These questions cover all businesses within the Marine industry, from very small one or two person operations to large companies.
The questions address issues in regards to employment within the industry, finance, product, business location and marinas.
Sherry Donaldson, CEO of AMIF, said “In order to allow for further development within the industry it is essential that these surveys are completed. A positive response rate provides AMIF with the information that is necessary to ensure that government policy facilitates future growth“.
