Club Marine Mandurah Boat Show
October 9-11 2009, Mandurah Ocean Marina.
With its fresh layout and design, the 2009 Club Marine Mandurah Boat Show was a big hit with Boat enthusiasts and land lovers alike! Despite the threat of inclement weather late in the weekend, over 18,500 people attended this year’s show with most dealers reporting huge interest, good sales figures and strong prospective buyer introductions.
The new layout and dry Marina walkways directed an even-flow of pedestrian traffic and facilitated plenty of observational lookouts and boat viewpoints, while the re-design of the foreshore created an enclosed and safe area for canoe and kayak demonstrations and children’s activities.
The Exhibition site’s newly completed, three storey Marine Operations Centre building, hosting the State Government’s main marine departments, was inundated with consumer interest, queries and feedback and provided an informative and educational platform for visitors.
Not surprisingly, the world class, Club Marine Mandurah Boat Show is the third largest boat show in Australia, this year attracting over 200 exhibitors, 550 watercraft, plus 112 on the water.
Boat Sales
The show unveiled a selection of International luxury vessels never before displayed in Australia; the Fountain Pajot Lipari 41. Plus there were loads of West Australian premieres including Sunseeker’s 60 Manhattan MK 2, the 52 Predator and the Australian release of the 64 Predator, the Riviera 38 Flybridge, Horizon 65, Maritimo Aegean 50 Enclosed, and trailer-sailer Potter 19 (presented by Seagreen Marine).
Within hours of the Show opening, Sunseeker had registered the sale of one of their magnificent flybridge cruisers. Mr Barbagallo said “the response was good and we’ve got at least 2 more sales coming from the show”.
Martin Box Marine’s Chris Box also reported great results with the sale of the new luxurious, long range cruiser; Martimo 50 - and two more positive sales in the pipeline.
Steve Wren from Challenge Marine was another singing the praises of this year’s show, with direct sales as well as positive expressions of interest.
Allboat Business’ Maz Yahiya and Mandurah dealer, Karen Jackman confirmed the positive spin the show generated, both indicating a great summer ahead for the marine industry and a common acknowledgement of the excitement building for a busy summer of boating.
Blasting out of the sky, show newcomer; Coastryder, launched the show by dropping one of their boats from a helicopter into the water, demonstrating the strength and seaworthiness of the vessel.
Mandurah Boat Show Director, Peter Woods pronounced “I’m wrapped the show was such a big success for the boating industry! We put a really big effort this year to give the show a fresh perspective and despite the weather, it worked.. It really is a turning point for the industry coming out of the last 12 months.”
Fishing
Back by popular demand, the Engel Aquatank Fishing Show featured a 14,000 litre tank filled to the brim with Barramundi and Rainbow Trout - centre stage as well as round-the-clock angling presentations to entertain and inspire audiences.
Fishing greats including Malcolm Douglas and David Hodge (Hodgy the Bare Foot Fisherman) kept patrons entertained centre stage and there were plenty of extra words of wisdom and expert tips from a host of other skilled anglers.
Navico, the market leader in recreational and commercial electronics, had its biggest display ever at this year’s show and Lowrance debuted the worlds first “3D” fish and structure Imaging Sonar with full panoramic viewing.
Lifestyle Demonstrations
Celebrity chef and outdoor culinary master; Club Marine’s Bart Beek, performed some amazing BBQ and outdoor dining demonstrations, including seafood cooking tips; just in time for the warm weather!
Bushman Malcolm Douglas again proved a big hit with the crowds, particularly his entertaining “hole in one” casting competition to raise money for his “Save the Kimberley Bilby” project. Bart and Malcolm’s daily Pizza challenge was a highlight for the fans too, with viewing maximised on the giant daylight LED screen.
MBS Fashion Harbour
This year the programme launched its very own fashion central; “Fashion Harbour” with live music, fashion parades and a 600-strong crowd applauding the release of the Kooey swimwear range by special guest, Rachael Finch; Miss Universe Australia.
In fact right throughout the grounds over the whole weekend, shoppers delighted in their bargain priced boating, diving, camping and outdoor range discoveries.
Hosted by the Mandurah offshore fishing and sailing club, all proceeds are directed to the Club and community facilities and activities.
