Captain Cook Cruises has recently taken delivery of its fourth 24m catamaran ferry to service Sydney Harbour and the Parramatta River – Named Violet McKenzie, she joins her three predecessors all fitted with Arctic Steel seawater strainers.
The catamaran ferry designed by Incat Crowther and built by Richardson Devine Marine is powered by twin Scania DI13 070M main engines. Arctic Steel seawater strainers are fitted to the engines ensuring clean water is available for cooling. The Violet McKenzie will cruise efficiently at 25 knots, with a top speed of 27 knots.
The vessel design focuses strongly on operational efficiency and also simplifying day-to-day maintenance tasks. Arctic Steel’s design provides robust, reliable performance together with clever lid design ensuring safe, quick and easy access for cleaning. There are no tools required with Arctic Steel strainers and nuts don’t need to be removed, eliminating wasted service time.
Australian company, Arctic Steel manufacturers the world’s best cast stainless steel seawater strainers. All models are cast in duplex 2205 stainless steel providing exceptional resistance to corrosion. Arctic Steel also boasts the largest range of cast stainless strainers.
