A draft reissue of the National Standard for Commercial Vessels , Part C, Section 7, Subsection 7A – Safety Equipment (NSCV C7A) is open for public consultation until Friday 27th June 2014.

A copy of the draft amendment and a change document that will assist you in your review, is available on the AMSA website along with the details for making a submission.

Background

Proposal to amend the Domestic Commercial Vessel requirements in NSCV C7A for Class 2 and 3 vessels, by increasing the vessel length from ≥25m to ≥35m before a non-SOLAS rescue boat is required. This change would more closely reflect the principles found in Marine Order 25 that are applicable to Regulated Australian Vessels.

This proposed minor amendment also provides the opportunity to clarify the existing first aid kit requirements and align the carriage of Paracetamol with the Poisons Standard packaging requirements.
