THE 2013 SANCTUARY Cove International Boat Show will cement its status as the marine industry’s must-attend Queensland event by offering its strongest consumer and commercial mix in 25 years.
Mulpha Sanctuary Cove sales, sponsorship and events manager Johan Hasser said this year’s event would have plenty to offer marine industry players and boating enthusiasts alike.
“Our event this year really underscores that SCIBS is the place where the marine industry does business,” he said.
“We have a diverse and extensive range of exhibitors from across Australia and overseas to ensure this is the place where industry players rub shoulders.
“At the same time we have an unprecedented variety of activities, events and experiences for boaties and their families.
“We are bringing the industry and their public together while providing both with the experiences and opportunities they are looking for.”
This year will see Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) and Superyacht Australia unveil an innovative opportunity for their members to “test the waters” of exhibiting their business.
The AIMEX and Superyacht Australia HUB pavilion will have an area of small pod-style booths for members who would otherwise just attend and walk the show. It will be bordered by key exhibitors creating a one stop shop for visitors and business connections.
Regular exhibitor Dylan Lopez, of Coomera-based Sirocco Marine North, said SCIBS was the mecca for Queensland’s marine fraternity.
“SCIBS epitomises the large luxury boat lifestyle and it is where the key players gather,” he said.
“That is the sector my business services, so I need to be here to connect with them.”
Mr Lopez said Sanctuary Cove provided the best venue for a boat show in Australia.
“From an exhibitor’s point of view, the location is amazing with the Marine Village, InterContinental Hotel and people living in the environment,” he said.
“The unique atmosphere of SCIBS is what differentiates it from other shows across Australia.”
Long-time exhibitor Scott Wilson, of Molendinar-based Swift Marine, said SCIBS was the best boat show from the perspectives of sales and enjoyment.
“We need to go to a show at least once a year to get our product out there and this is the one we have chosen,” he said.
“SCIBS always has an enjoyable carnival atmosphere and it a great location.
“If you have to spend time at work as an exhibitor it might as well be somewhere that is pleasant and entertaining that sets people – including exhibitors – up for a great experience.”
Mr Wilson – who has exhibited most years since the show’s 1989 inception – said the event provided sustained economic benefits to his business which manufactures rigid inflatable craft.
“We do quite a few sales at the show but it also sets us up for the rest of the year because we have people coming back to us 8 to 12 months later,” he said.
The 2013 Boat Show will showcase a raft of international boating brands, products and technologies on display alongside the superb backdrop of the award-winning Sanctuary Cove marina and The Marine Village.
