Jason Roberts, Director at Aurora says the service will focus on events: Sydney Hobart, 26 December 2016, the Transpac Race 2017 Long Beach to Hawaii 3 July 2017, and the Hong Kong to Vietnam Race 2017, 18 October 2017.
“We have put together a calendar covering the major international racing events, which works out more cost-effective for clients,” said Roberts. “We have the runs on the board with successful shipping and handling of iconic vessels such as Comanche and Wild Oats XI.”
Aurora has a specialist team with the expertise to carry boats from 30-feet to 200-feet, many of them with delicate components that require extra care.
“Race Yachts and their riggings are expensive delicate pieces of cargo which require specialist care and knowledge regarding international transport,” says Roberts. “There are unique insurance requirements and then there are the race deadlines and other delivery parameters set by owners. Their boats have to arrive in plenty of time to prepare them and their crews ahead of such high-profile events.”
At each end, Aurora handles the Customs and Quarantine formalities, and the discharging of yachts directly to water.
