The Boating Industry Association Ltd is the peak industry association for the boating industry in New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland and Northern Territory and together with sister associations in Victoria and Western Australia, represents the entirety of the recreational and light commercial marine industry in Australia.  Together, the BIA members represent over 1500 marine businesses, accounting for 85% of the industry by turnover and employing some 28,000+ people.  The marine industry has a turnover of approximately $8bn and is a leading sector of the Australian economy, encompassing manufacturing, retail, marina, service and tourism operators.  Members of the Association include boat manufacturers, boat dealers, engine sales, marine brokers, equipment manufacturers, marinas and mooring operators, hire and drive/charter operators, training establishments, professional services such as naval architects and surveyors, plus marine facilities design and build.

BIA represents these members and the industry more widely on a diverse range of advocacy issues, at all levels of government and internationally.  BIA owns and operates the capital city boat shows in Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide and provides support for promotion of the boating lifestyle via www.discoverboating.com.au.  BIA’s core mission is member prosperity through the promotion and representation of safe boating.
