Momentum is building for the marine industry’s largest week of activity on the Gold Coast and a key beneficiary is the Australian Superyacht and Marine Export conference (ASMEX). It was reported today that registrations for the conference are 20% higher than this time last year.
AIMEX CEO, M Edwards commented, “I am happy to report that registrations for the conference are 20% greater than this time last year. In an industry that is always slow to make decisions about attending events this is significant for us. We have an amazing line up of international and national speakers and can assure delegates of coming away from the conference with some excellent information and contacts.”
M Edwards advised that the increase is due to the fact that there is so much happening the weekend after the conference and this is generating a lot of interest from our international delegates in particular. We have the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show and the Gold Coast Marine Expo both being held from 21-24 May. Many of our members and obviously other industry players are involved with these events and it appears they are deciding to take the opportunity to come earlier and participate in the conference.
It is certainly looking like it will be an industry showcase weekend following ASMEX with the international delegates coming to ASMEX getting a real taste of what Australia has to offer. The Gold Coast City Council is working with ASMEX to attract more international buyers to the conference and particularly to focus on marine businesses on the Gold Coast who export.
M Edwards further commented “A number of our international delegates wish to look at the Gold Coast Marine precinct. They are keen to see how these precincts operate and how they are managed. For the past 4 years AIMEX has arranged tours of the precinct hosted by the Gold Coast City Marina and they have been very successful. In conjunction with the Gold Coast City Council, AIMEX is once again arranging this tour and we are encouraging our international delegates to stay and visit both shows.”
With the current line-up of national and international speakers the Australian Superyacht and Marine Export conference is a must attend and the Awards night gala dinner held on 19 May is always a sell-out event.
