Headquartered in the boat building centre of the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia and exporting to the world, Skudo is an award-winning manufacturer of temporary protective coatings for every step of marine manufacturing, maintenance, refit and storage.

The new Tack‐Mat is a flexible, re-usable matting system, that can be cut to size or rolled out in lengths and temporarily adheres to most marine interior and exterior surface, including fibreglass surfaces, teak decking, stainless steel, glass and built-ins.

International Business Manager, Hayden Bone explains “Every boat build or refit has a need for protection at some stage in the process, to protect against footfall, impact resistance, spills or spatter.

“Tack-Mat adheres to the substrate and eliminates any risk of dirt or grit contaminating your substrate by getting under the protection layer. This causes damage as well as being a safety hazard for trades and contractors tripping and slipping.”

The evolving product line was spurred on by the founders’ background in construction, where they found a niche for environmentally-friendly, protective products that provide safety for the individuals working on site, reduce wastage of product and labour time to fix it.

Skudo has secured the contract to protect almost every substrate (including the carparks) for the new Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California. This high profile construction project requires close to 1 million square metres of protection.

Skudo Marine Australia will be on show at METS Amsterdam next week with its revolutionary Tack Mat protective solution for all aspects of yacht and ship production or refit works.

They will be part of the AIMEX-Superyacht Australia contingent, looking to continue the momentum of their international reputation in the construction industry and replicate that success in the marine sphere.
