Leading Australian fibreglass boat builder, Steber International of Taree, was one of over 40
regional businesses exhibiting at the inaugural Mid North Coast Manufacturing and Engineering
Expo staged at Port Macquarie.
Industry Mid North Coast organised the expo and executive director, Jill Follington said the event
provided a unique opportunity for industry to connect and see what other organisations and
individuals are achieving in the manufacturing and engineering space on the Mid North Coast.
Steber general manager, Mr Alan Steber said: “It was a great opportunity to network and learn about
the capabilities and innovations of a wide cross-section of Mid North Coast businesses”.
“We need to continually push the benefits of manufacturing in regional Australia and the expo was
an ideal stage.
“Hopefully it will become an annual event”, Mr Steber concluded.
The expo was hosted by Newman Senior Technical College and featured 2012 Young Australian of
the Year, Marita Cheng as keynote presenter on the topic of “The Amazing World of Engineering.
Among guests at the event were Federal Member for Lyne, Dr David Gillespie and State Member
for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams.
